That was a busy day for me.
First I woke up about 8:30 am. Then I took my time getting up and getting ready to leave to go vote. It would be my first time voting ever. When I thought about this later, I wondered why I hadn't voted while I was home for ten years. What ever my reasons were, I just know that I didn't vote in the end.
So, I still left here about 2 hours before I had to be at work to make sure I would have time to get there, vote and call an Uber to get me to work on time. I knew it was raining when left the house, or I knew it was going to rain, since I had my umbrella and wore my big coat with the hood.
I ended up not opening my umbrella until after I voted. So I walked seven-ish blocks to my voting station. In a very heavy down pour. For some reason I thought my coat was water proof. So wrong. When I got there, there was no line or crowd like I expected. I, what..? I checked in I guess is what it's called. They found my name in a book. I signed next to to it and then I signed something else and took a ticket to the 'booth' and waited my turn.
Once I stepped into the booth, then I had issues. I didn't understand that I had to touch the paper to the name to make my choice. So I stood there for almost 3 minutes pushing other buttons to make my choice. When I didn't see anything that made sense I called for help, as quietly as I could. Once I got help, it was over in 2 minutes.
Then I walked back out into the rain and I still had almost 2 hours before I had to be at work still. So, this is when I opened my umbrella and walked back down the hill I just walked up. Half way there I was soaked through. Since I had so much time on my hands and my 59 bus wouldn't be by in a while, I jumped on the 66 bus. I was going to get up by the bridge, walk over, get some Chinese food and then get on the 59. I then decided to see if the stop beyond the one I knew off would be closer to where I was going. Then we passed through a small lake. I wasn't walking back through that, so I asked the driver to let me know when it crossed the route for the 26 bus.
A week or so back I looked into taking a different path home just to see something different, so I knew the 66 and the 26 met up at one point and the 26 stopped where I would change from the 59 to the 24. So when I got off the 66 I saw a subway shop. Yeah, food. I hadn't eaten yet and I was working until 9:30 pm. So I needed food. As I think about walking away from the bus stop, the 26 showed up. No subway for me. So I enjoyed my ride into Elizabeth as best I could while still being water logged.
Not too long later I off where I would catch the 24 and saw that I had enough time to go to the subway that was half a block away and get something to eat. As I crossed the street, I look back and saw the 24 A as it show up. Great. Normally the A shows up after the B bus and the the A takes longer to get to the Mall and if I had already missed the other bus, I may not got to work on time by waiting for the next bus to show up, so I walked back and got unto the A. I'll have to get something at the mall to eat.
I was starting to feel a little dryer by now, and I just had one more jaunt out into the rain at the end of this ride. The some what empty parking lot made me think that most people weren't at the mall today, but then I remember that the tourists don't drive there. They have taxis or they use the bus. Few come by personal cars. Most with their families that live here.
So as I enter I mall, I stop at Applebee's and order my standard. Veggie burger, no cheese, no butter on the bun and fries with no salt. Once I paid, I left my coat and umbrella there and went to the bathroom to change to kill two tasks at once. I had some time so I could have just done that at work, but I had the time at that point, so I did it then.
When I got back, I was handed my food. Cool. So I lugged my boots, by bag, my big coat and my bag of food to work. At work I got into an interesting talk about food. Canned corn beef and breadfruit.
Then I started work. Yeah, I was at cashrep that day. I think I was the only one clocking in at 1 pm. Our plan for the day was decent, so I believed we would pass it. So I worked along for 4 hours then took a bathroom break. I point this out, because I actually left to get something to drink. Something that I don't do very often. And I took a moment to just sit in the bathroom for 3 mins. I still got my water since I'm allowed a 15 min break. But I wasn't gone for all that long. I took a min to fill my bottle and take a swing before going back to work. then two hours later I asked about my 30 mins break. That is when I found out I was suppose to go an hour before. So I got to leave for it now. No one told me. Which is normal. For me it's almost a 50/50 toss up some weeks. So I leave to get my jamba juice. Which is all I've been having for lunch for the past 2 months at least.
I was then way laid my a mall worker who I'm friendly with. He wanted my to buy a coat for him. He had the money, but he wanted me to use my employee discount for him. So I told him when I got back from getting my 'lunch' I would get his money and buy it for him. Shrinking this part down, I got him his coat, and I got myself some new tights and a sweater for my friend. I wasn't going to get her anything for two reasons. One, I didn't want to spend too much, but I needed the tights for the weather and I already had other things for her that I hadn't mailed yet. She was good. But it was just hanging there. At the end of the line. The same colour that thought of getting her. IN Her Size! So I got it. Then I got checked out again to hand over his coat to him, and then stuffed the rest of my buy into my small locker.
Fast forward to the end. I clocked out at 10:40 pm. I think. Yes, I did say that my shift ended at 9:30 pm. You would think this was the end of my night wouldn't you? I would call my Uber, go home, eat something and crash. and that did happen, but it wasn't all that happened. For starters, I ordered a pool and the second person that was picked up was a girl who use to work with me and is now at another store in the mall. We talked and chatted all the way to my house. So much so, that I don't even remember when the other person joined us for the ride. I won't get into what we talked about, but it was nice seeing her again. I may go looking for her one of these days when I had time on my hands after work.
Then I got home and my sister had a nice salmon bowl for me. And there was a package from the same friend I got the sweater for. She ended up sending me a gift that I was wanting for a while now, but hadn't gotten around to getting yet. A tea infuser. And it's suppose to float. I'll be testing that this weekend. :)
So, I ate, smiled, and then crashed around midnight.
Long day. A good day. A wet day, and a surprising day. :)
